On a recent trip to western Kansas I photographed this field of white flowers and I am having trouble identifying them, they do not appear to be in any of my guide books.

Ok, these are windmills, the effect is created by taking multiple exposures and combining them in Photoshop.

This is the scene as you would normally see it, with the blades frozen as if the are not moving.

I placed my camera on a tripod so that it would not move and then used an intervalometer to take a photo every second and shot from 20-50 images that I could then combine using Adobe Photoshop.  The process is really quite simple, I opened all of the files as layers then selected all layers and choose the “lighten” blend mode, flattened the layers and then saved the image. I then did some minor processing in Adobe Lightroom to finish.

In this photo I used many more exposures creating the effect of wider petals.

A couple of more “Wind-Flower” Photos.
