This year has been our wettest on record and as a result we still have water flowing in the middle of July, normally in Arkansas by this time of the year we only have still pools in most of our creeks and rivers and photographing waterfalls is rare. Combining the water fall and the summer sky with the full Milky Way makes for some unique photo opportunists.
The image here is a panorama composite of 10 images, combined with “light painting” on the waterfall. All processing (including the stitching of the panorama) was done in Lightroom.
Natural Dam is just what the name implies, a natural rock dam, located at the town of Natural Dam Arkansas. The dam is nearly 200 feet wide and spans the width of Mountain Fork Creek where it runs into Lee Creek You can easily view the dam without getting out of your vehicle , but the area features an excellent picnic area. This is a very popular place for getting your feet wet and swimming during the hot summer months.
